GBA Projects continued to manage the Engineering consultant and specialists in the production of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Shute Harbour Marina development during 2004. Part of the EIS development process was to engage with the local Indigenous communities to walk over the property, assessing if there were any culturally significant heritage sites. T

he project gained agreement that while there was no significant sites obvious we would consult with them during the construction phase to ensure that if culturally significant heritage sites were discovered then these would be protected. Indigenous Community approval was essential to the successful outcome of the EIS.

In late 2004 a series of Public Consultation forums were held with the local communities and with the Local Council. The information obtained at these public consultation forums was compiled for inclusion in the EIS.

During the year, we prepared a detail construction programme for Broad Constructions for the "North Adelaide Village", a shopping centre in the heart of North Adelaide. Broad were successful in their tender and GBA Projects was again engaged to provide services to enable Broad to complete the project on time and on budget.

However, more importantly during 2004, GBA Projects continued its work on the "Oil Search Business Development & Execution System" (OSDES). The framework was developed "to fulfil a key need within Oil Search Limited for managing the development of opportunities through the project management lifecycle". The framework consisted of user guides, guidelines, processes, and procedures to assist project teams in developing opportunties where significant expenditure was expected.

Now the interesting part about this project is that the content delivery system was written in a web delivery format enabling users to navigate the framework via a web browser. Not a big achievement in today's responsive web design world, but with the trend in flash-based websites taking off, flexibility and scalability was required.

Later in the 2000's, with the introduction of content management systems, we took some of the principles from the Oil Search system and developed our own Sharepoint based microsite.

Its funny how the old IT practices of the past still influence some of the newer developments of the future!
